SCTA Club Championship Overview

The SCTA Club Championships is the official competition for determining the best doubles players in four divisions of skill for Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles. You must be an SCTA member to register.

Time of Year:

  • Early November – Registration opens early in October and closes early in November.
  • SCTA Members are to register online after October 1st using a link posted on the Sign-up Forms page.

Player Entry:

  • Players may enter one same gender (Men’s or Women’s) doubles and/or one Mixed Doubles division.
  • Same gender doubles are played on a different day from mixed doubles, but if there are rainouts, some players may be required to play two matches on one day.

Skill Level Divisions:

  • Championship skill levels are 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, and 8.0 with the partners’ combined ratings meeting those levels. While most partners will be at the same level, it is permissible for combined ratings to be at two different ratings. For example, a 2.5 player could partner with a 3.5 player to compete in the 6.0 division. However, a 3.0 and a 3.5 partner would combine to 6.5 and be required to play at the 7.0 level.
  • Players must use their current Club Rating. If prospective players don’t have a Club Rating, they can register at the level of their IntraClub play or attend a Ratings Clinic prior to the start of the tournament.
  • When six or more teams are registered within a skill level, the teams will be divided into Senior and Super Senior divisions, based on the median combined ages of the entrants. In past tournaments the combined median age has been 140. If less than six teams register, there will be just one division. Play is round robin within the division so there will be at least three matches for each team.

Match Schedule:

  • Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles play Mon, Wed, Fri
Mixed Doubles play Tue, Thur, Sat
  • Saturday can be make-up matches or as needed for large divisions
  • Sunday are final matches and play-offs of Senior vs Super Senior winners

Entry Fee:

  • First event – $20.00
  • Second event – $6.00
