April 2025 Event Summary
It was a fantastic last day of the tournament. A big thank you to all the volunteers and players who made everything a fun and enjoyable smooth operation.
The comments below by Steve Sandike sum up the standings nicely: The lead changed hourly, for the whole tournament. It was the closest spread from first to eighth since we started this thing in 2016! Only 2.87% winning fraction separated first from eighth! But in the end, it was Purple Reign finishing on top, winning 51.7% of their games. Second place goes to Mid Court Crisis, @ 50.5%.
Great thanks to Donna Ryan for commandeering the event. It came off with the precision of a symphony at La Scala. There are so many moving parts to pulling this off, so thanks for assisting her. Players were so appreciative. Special thanks to Dudley for taking good care of our generous sponsors. It was a record year for sponsorships for Dudley and his crew. Steve Sandike was busy as always with scheduling. Michael Ryan and Chris Scott were on top of keeping the courts and area in shape. The grill meisters were awesome, and worked very hard. The team captains were on top of the matches. The court monitors did a fabulous job. The bake sale was tasty. Match Point was successful. And on and on.
Thanks to all of you volunteers!!!

Tournament Overview:
The Mix and Match Tournament is held over four days, usually in the last week of April.
This doubles tournament forms 8 teams of approximately 23 players per team. Players consist of men and women at all skill ratings.
The tournament mixes tennis players, where they’re playing with different genders and skill levels.
Players are then matched up against other teams’ players in their combined skill level.
Tournament Format:
Players are assigned to teams in their skill rating of 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, or 4.0. This is done to balance out the teams ensuring competitive matches.
Competition is based on categories of Men’s doubles, Women’s doubles, or Mixed doubles which provides the mixing and matching.
Each team plays every other team over the course of seven rounds.
The winning team is determined by the percentage of games won throughout the tournament.
Tentative Schedule:
Thursday from 4:00-7:00
Friday from 2:00-8:00
Saturday from 12:00-4:30 (or later)
Sunday from 12:00-4:00

SCTA website under Events.
Entry fee is $30.
Additional Events:
Match Point is held on Saturday at noon and is a fast-paced feature where partners play one point against another set of players, and the winners advance.
Match Point is sponsored by the Women’s Tennis Organization with all donations given to charity.
Hilton Head tennis professionals provide an exhibition match on Friday at 6:00. This is a great opportunity to see young big hitters in action.
